Jodhpur Border Police have joined in the race towards green and sustainable mobility with a new ingenious battery operated car that could be a new beacon of sustainability for army personnel in different departments. BSF has produced the vehicles using scrap parts of older vehicles and given them a EV powertrain with a new battery operated motor. The stand out feature of the vehicle is its older Rolls-Royce-like appeal as stated by one of the officers. He further details that the car would be used to provide ease of mobility to retired army officers, visitors and other workers who often park their vehicles far off in the campus and walk in the scorching heat to reach the main campus.
The creation stands as a profound exemplar of ingenious minds coming together and using scrap parts to ensure sustainability. Further, the EV powertrain adds to the overall appeal of the vehicle. As it appears from the videos, the fenders, hood and the headlights all seem to have been taken from older army vehicles and beyond that the indicators seemed to have been carried over from Royal Enfield Bullet. Further the wheels and the drive gear seemed to have been carried over from an older Suzuki Jeep that was the go to choice for army personnel to drive around in until the Suzuki Jimny came in.
The efforts showcased by the Bikaner Army department to reuse scrap and take a step towards green mobility and sustainability would surely resonate further and motivate other government departments to join in in similar projects. Often, Government departments have a slew of scrap vehicles that can be reused and such projects can inspire departments to further innovate and walk a path of sustainability.
