In a new business venture Air Bus helicopters have chosen the services of Mahindra Aero structures to manufacture and assemble the main fuselage of the H 130 light single engine helicopter. The contract indicates a major and significant step in Airbus’s long standing commitment to make in India initiative and marks the first time the global aerospace giant would be sourcing helicopter fuselages from India.
The state of the art agreement reveals that Mahindra Aero structures would be building the H130 Fuselages at its facility near Bengaluru. Once the assemblies have been completed they would be shipped to Airbus Helicopters final assembly line in Marignane, France.
The H130 Helicopter
The H130 is widely used for tourism thanks to its single engine rotorcraft and the wide cabin along with a low sound footprint. The Helicopter has been widely used for medical transport, corporate mobility and law enforcement. The demand for such a helicopter has been on the rise for a while, the decision to choose India for producing the fuselage cements India’s role in the Airbus supply chain But beyond that also brings highly skilled manufacturing jobs and advanced technologies to the Indian Soil.
