New Delhi: Vehicle manufacturer MG Motors has launched its Gloster SUV in a new avatar in the country. Whereas some time back, Jeep also brought its Meridian SUV to India. The prices of both these SUVs are almost the same, so there can be some confusion in the minds of people as to which vehicle to buy. So today we will compare these two and know which vehicle is better.
Engine
In the Jeep Meridian, we get to see a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Multijet diesel engine, which can produce 168bhp power and 350Nm torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 9-speed automatic torque-converter with four wheel-drive option. The MG Gloster is powered by a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that can produce a maximum power of 163bhp along with a peak torque of 375Nm.

How is their look?
The company’s signature designs like the Compass and Grand Cherokee have been used in Jeep’s Meridian SUV. To enhance the look of the MG Gloster, features like quad exhaust system, muscular bonnet, wrap-around LED taillights in the rear profile, large chrome finished grille, silver skid plate, rear window wipers, sleek LED headlights with DRLs have been added. Huh.
Features
The Meridian gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, air purifier, multi-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, multifunctional steering wheel, one-touch tumble for the second row seats and fold function. The MG Gloster gets a host of features like adaptive cruise control with ADAS, a large HD touchscreen infotainment system, auto climate control, panoramic sunroof. This vehicle comes in two options of 6 and 7 seats.

Performance
The Meridian can achieve a speed of 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 10.8 seconds. The vehicle gets three drive modes like Snow, Sand and Auto along with features like electronic parking brakes and hill assist. It takes about 13 seconds for the Gloster to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph. In this, more than 75 new connected car features have been included including autonomous driving system, emergency braking.
How much is the price?
Jeep has fixed the starting price of Meridian in the country at Rs 29.9 lakh (ex-showroom). While the price of MG Gloster starts from Rs 31.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 40.77 lakh (ex-showroom) for its top variant.
