The increasing scope of new brand establishments in India, amid the growing demand for bikes has often showcased the enormity of the Indian market. Beyond the other brands which have recently set up base in India TVS-Norton now seems to be eyeing the Indian market as its new endeavor. As per an exclusive by an Autocar professional. TVS -Norton is going to be launching 6 new motorcycles over a three-year period. And as per a further input it has also been revealed that these new bikes would include an all new single and twin cylinder platform as well.
New Norton 450 -CC 650 CC Engine Platform
While the details on the new platforms are pretty scarce at the moment, sources have revealed to AutoCar that the Single Cylinder Bike would hover in between a 400 or a 450CC engine, while a possible parallel twin engine bike would probably use a 600-650cc range parallel twin engine. Such engine choices would pit the brand directly against Royal Enfield.
It’s Possible that witnessing the saturation in the single cylinder engine segment Norton might equip their bike with a larger capacity single cylinder engine that would be above 350CC. This would help the brand distinguish themselves against other competitors in the market.
Norton’s India Plans
Considering the usual path often taken by manufacturers while launching new bikes Norton might launch the single cylinder variants first and then the twin engine variants. Norton seemingly has extensive plans to set up a production base in India as it has also been seeking a localization production spree for its 1200cc 4 cylinder engine that powers the likes of V4SV and V4cr. Whether Norton would be manufacturing its premium V4SV and V4cr in India as well or just continue produce engines for their international variants would be revealed soon. Considering the British roots of the brand it would be a close competitor to the Royal Enfield in the near future.
