OLA electric has announced the launch date of the new gen 3 platform. The new platform would be launched on 31st January , 2025. The manufacturer themselves shared the news through their official social media handle. The Gen3 would offer a major update above the second gen that is being sold in India right now.
The Gen 3 platform would consist of 3 main components: a new battery, motor as well as a control unit. OLA has introduced new innovative changes to the vehicle, in the gen 3 the battery would be a structural component of the scooters frame.
New Battery Cells
As per the brand this would help in making the body more shock resistant. Beyond this change the cells that OLA would use in their battery would be different as well. As per OLA the cell they would use have been developed in India-these cells have the intrinsic ability to carry more charge and are more energy dense. The Current cells the 2170 are much more inferior than the cells that Ola would use in the 3rd generation.
New Generation 3 Motor
The new motor would not be the permanent magnet one- As per OLA they would be using the new magnetized electric coil motors. This would result in much better thermal efficiency of the motor. This would further improve the overall performance of the vehicle.
New ECU
The Ola Gen 3 scooters would have completely new motor control unit- this new module would be integrated into the motor. Further OLA has integrated MCU and battery management system into a single chip. As per OLA with the help of all these changes they would be able to give their vehicle new addled features such as (ADAS) into their scooters in the future. OLA seems to be in a pursuit to bring up a whole selection of new vehicles that could possibly involve the gen 3 platform as well as a new Bike the arrowhead. As of yet it seems apparent that the new scooters would have better range, shorter charging time and more features.
