In the last few months, Royal Enfield has disclosed its veritable plans to expand its line up and step beyond their usual game to bring in a slew of new models. Until now, we were aware of the Flying flea being set to launch the very next year, but a recent reveal has disclosed the Himalayan being tested in Ladakh. So it’s inevitable that an Electric version of the Himalayan off roader might soon make it to the market as well.
The bike was showcased as an electric mobility vehicle in the 2023 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. Beyond the Him-E the Flying Flea range of Motorcycles were also seen. The recent sightings of the Enfield have showcased the bike in a production version of HIM -E. The units were probably out testing in Ladakh while they were spotted. The Models that were spotted seemed production ready close to pre-production.

The Himalayan has been the cornerstone of India’s adventure touring motorcycle segment, this time around the bike has been spotted in a Electric avatar. Going by the images that have surfaced online, the bike was seen with a new seat that extends till the tank the battery units were placed where the engine usually sits in a ICE model of the Himalayan.

The Other stand out features that we could see were a large tank that would probably be an air duct for the battery system. Royal Enfield seems to have left no stones unturned to make the bike a profound adventure classic as it had an oHlins Monoshock at the rear with heavy duty Nissin Fancy Petal Discs on both ends.
Lithium Ion batteries that are generally used in electric vehicles succumb to extreme cold temperatures and loose charge, it’s possible that the testing spree was organized to test the drop in battery charge levels only.
The main frame as well as the Subframe of the bike also seemed like custom aluminum units rather than a trellis frame that is generally used in sports bikes. The Brake Fluid reservoirs for both the brakes were placed on the handlebars. Going by the rally appeal, the ECU Master display that was showcased on the bikes was placed up high on the dash board.
Royal Enfield has not confirmed any details about the launch of the electric version of the Himalayan yet.
