New Delhi: Honda Motors has introduced its new mid-size SUV, the Honda Elevate. Bookings for this vehicle will commence in July, and it is expected to be launched before Diwali. The car is equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is also found in Honda’s city sedan. This engine can generate 121 PS of power and 145 Nm of torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-step CVT automatic transmission. It features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with smartphone connectivity, a 7-inch semi-digital driver display, a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charging, and climate control with rear AC vents. Additionally, it includes several safety features with ADAS technology. The price of this car is expected to range between 11 lakh rupees to 16 lakh rupees. Despite having many impressive features, it lacks some significant features that are present in its competitors. Let’s take a closer look at the missing features of the Elevate.
1. Hybrid and Turbo Petrol Engines: It was initially expected that the Honda Elevate SUV would come with hybrid and turbo petrol engine options, but it seems that it does not offer these. It is only available with a 1.5L NA petrol engine paired with manual and automatic gearboxes. In contrast, the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta offer diesel engine options, and the Maruti Grand Vitara provides a hybrid powertrain option.
2. Panoramic Sunroof: The Honda Elevate features a single-pane sunroof, while its competitors such as the Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Toyota Harrier, and Maruti Grand Vitara offer panoramic sunroofs, and the upcoming facelift of the Kia Seltos will also have this feature.
3. Ventilated Front Seats: Ventilated seats are currently a trending feature, and it is found in almost all mid-size SUVs except the MG Hector and C3 Aircross.
4. Powered Driver Seat: The Honda Elevate does not come with this important feature, which is available in cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and MG Hector. It enhances the driving experience.
5. 360-Degree Camera: The new Honda Elevate is equipped with a rear-view camera and a lane watch camera. It has a camera installed on the left wing mirror that displays rear traffic on the touchscreen unit when using the turn indicator. However, the expectation was to have a 360-degree camera, which is quite helpful during parking or navigating tight roads.
6. Digital Driver Display: The new Elevate features a 7-inch TFT semi-digital instrument console, which is an improvement over the previous model. However, the expectation was to have a digital driver display, which is available in cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Hector.
