Volkswagen To Launch Kylaq Based Compact SUV In 2026 – Check All Details

The Volkswagen compact SUV will likely compete Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV3XO, Nissan Magnite, and Kia Sonet among others.

Volkswagen India is set to launch a compact SUV in 2026, several media reports said. Volkswagen will base its new SUV on the Skoda Kylaq, which makes its global debut next month. However, the Volkswagen compact SUV, will have significant exterior changes to align with the company’s design language.

The upcoming sub-4-meter SUV from Volkswagen will share the platform and powertrain from Skoda Kylaq. Notably, Skoda and Volkswagen’s joint approach is reminiscent of successful partnerships like Kushaq/Taigun and Slavia/Virtus. Volkswagen is set to unveil its version of the upcoming SUV, with development costs estimated at approximately €25 million, reported ‘Autocar India’.

Volkswagen Compact SUV: What We Know?

Volkswagen’s upcoming SUV will share its powertrain with the Skoda Kylaq. Let’s have a look at what the Kylaq offers.

  • Kylaq will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform.
  • The Kylaq will ride on sporty 17-inch black alloy wheels.
  • Kylaq will feature a 2-spoke steering wheel, 10.1-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, and sunroof.
    Kylaq’s safety features will include 6 airbags, electronic stability control, rear parking camera, and rear parking sensors.
  • The Kylaq will also get Brake Disc Wiping, Electronic Differential Lock, Passenger Airbag Deactivation, Multi-Collision Braking, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
  • The Skoda Kylaq features a 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine. Kylaq will deliver 114 hp and 178 Nm of torque.

However, the Volkswagen SUV will feature a new grille, new front and rear lights, new bumpers and an outer skin for the tailgate. Interior, too, will have some significant changes.

The Volkswagen compact SUV will likely compete Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV3XO, Nissan Magnite, and Kia Sonet among others. According to several media reports, The Skoda will price Kylaq’s base model at Rs 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Volkswagen SUV could also have the same price range as the Kylaq.
