Bharat Ek Soch: On Friday, June 13, 2025, the world was jolted with the news of the eruption of a new conflict zone. It started when Israel targeted nuclear and military sites in Iran with at least 200 fighter jets. Tensions escalated when Iran retaliated with airstrikes targeting Tel Aviv. While explosions were reported in Iran’s capital city, Tehran, air raid sirens were sounded in Israel’s capital, Jerusalem, and the city of Tel Aviv. The Israeli missiles targeted and killed Hossein Salami, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander. Many senior military figures and nuclear scientists, Mehdi Tehrani and Fereydoun Abbasi, also died in the attack. Both rival countries are locked in a direct conflict, where backing off seems nearly impossible. Iran is very much aware that Israel is just a pawn; the real game is orchestrated by US President Donald Trump and his generals.
Amid intensifying tensions, Iran raised a red flag over the Jamkaran Mosque in the city of Qom, indicating the country’s vow to avenge a death or attack. The bigger question here looms: How will the Israel-Iran conflict impact the world? Which countries are supporting either of the two? India, which has good relations with both Israel and Iran, will stand with whom? Will Pakistan side with Iran, or will they stand with the United States? Is Pakistan planning to betray China to please America? How much will India be affected in the event of a war between Israel and Iran?
“The Middle East Is Sitting On A Heap Of Gunpowder”
It is anticipated that the “Middle East is sitting on a heap of gunpowder.” The world is well aware that tensions between Israel and Iran can peak to a dangerous level at any time. Notably, the presumptions were made that Israel could target Iran’s nuclear sites, but hardly anyone thought that around 200 Israeli fighter jets would attack the country’s nuclear and military sites. Who would have imagined that Israel would kill Iran’s top army commander and nuclear scientists?
Why Is Israel Calling Iran’s Nuclear Program A Threat To Existence?
On Israel’s attack on Iran, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that ‘Operation Rising Lion’ has been launched to destroy Iran’s nuclear capability, and it will continue till the mission is completed. He alleges that the mission is necessary to save Tel Aviv’s existence. While Jordan shares border with Israel to its west, Iraq shares border with Iran to its east. Notably, there is a distance of over a thousand kilometers between the borders of Israel and Iran. Let’s first try to understand how both countries are dealing with each other. Why is Israel calling Iran’s nuclear program a threat to its existence?
Who is The Real Player In The Israel-Iran conflict?
America, which is sitting at a distance of 12,000 kilometers away, is said to be the real player behind the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. In the last several decades, America has been pushing hard to bring Iran to its knees. Meanwhile, on the other hand, Iran has been trying to become a nuclear power for many years. The biggest fear of Washington here is that if Iran achieves its goal, it will become a big threat to the Gulf countries, the American military bases, and Israel. US President Donald Trump has recently asked Iran to seal the deal on the nuclear program or be ready to face consequences. However, Iran has not yet confirmed that it is ready to accept the conditions of America and Israel. Defense Experts, on the other hand, think that it is impossible to carry out such a big operation without American cooperation and coordination.
Iran is also hitting back at Israel consistently with deadly ballistic missiles. Last year, in October, tensions soared after Tehran fired about 181 ballistic missiles at Israel, within 25 minutes. As a matter of fact, Iran is a powerful nation in the Muslim world. It has been trying to unite Shia and Sunni Muslims to stand against Western countries in the name of Islam which America doesn’t want.
What Did Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei Say?
Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei had said that with Allah’s will, the country will retaliate with full force and not show any mercy to them. This means Iran will not bow down to Israel and give a befitting reply. When the world is trapped in the conflict fueled by Netanyahu and Khamenei, let’s first understand India’s stance. talk about India first. Delhi has had good relations with both Tehran and Tel Aviv. Israel was among the countries that stood strongly and firmly with India during Operation Sindoor. In such a situation, Delhi’s diplomacy is set to face challenges – the decision to choose between Israel and Iran. If the tension continues to soar, this may have serious effects. For example, the closure of airspace will make the journey to Europe and other Western countries difficult and longer. Iran, which plays a major role in the supply chain of crude oil, has already started raising the prices. A sudden jump was also seen in the gold prices. Meanwhile, the disturbance in the Middle East is also a big concern for the nearly 90 lakh Indians living in the Gulf countries.
America stands behind Israel
In the era of globalisation, the effect of any war is not limited to a particular region or two countries. Its effect is seen in every part of the world, more or less. The same happened during the Russia-Ukraine war and the same is happening during the Israel-Hamas conflict. Moreover, similar things were seen in Israel’s operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon. It is quite possible that just like America stands behind Israel, Iran, similarly, secretly provides arms and money to Hamas, Houthis and Hezbollah on a large scale. It is also possible that Iran uses a group of rebel fighters against any country that stands against it.
It is important to note that Houthi fighters can affect the busiest trade route by sea. Amid the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, the reset button of diplomatic relations is also likely to be pressed.
What Will Pakistan Do now?
The question that is also raised is – What will Pakistan do now? These days, Pakistan’s equation with America is improving. The reason is that America wants to use Pakistani land to strengthen its hold in South Asia and to exert control over China. Similarly, the latter needs US dollars to get its economy to bloom again. In recent years, relations between Beijing and Tehran have strengthened. Iran continues to play a significant role in bridging the gap between the Arab and China. But the Trump administration is working to mend its relations with the big players in the Arab countries.
Turkey May Stand With Iran
Iran is a Muslim country. In the war against Israel, it may gain the support of some Muslim countries. Amid the changing equations, Turkey may be seen openly supporting Iran. There are chances that the big players of the Arab countries will also refrain from directly entering the war. But, they can take the initiative of mediation while maintaining distance. Chinese President Xi Jinping may be seen standing with Tehran, while Russian President Putin, who is currently at war with Ukraine, may be seen as neutral. Amidst all this, one thing that’s certain is that the Iran-Israel conflict will surely affect the common people.
