Elon Musk typically wakes up around 7 AM and goes to bed around 1 AM, ensuring he gets about six hours of sleep. Known for his intense work ethic, he often logs over 120 hours per week. His morning routine is efficient—he takes a quick shower, checks his phone for urgent updates, and then dives straight into work at Tesla, SpaceX, or one of his other ventures. Answering a Reddit Q&A once, Musk shared that he sleep for six hours and wakes up at 7am daily. “I find if I don’t get enough sleep, I’m quite grumpy… my mental acuity would be affected,” he had shared.
According to Isaacson’s biography of Musk, the billionaire has spent many nights awake and pondering the issues his companies face. His former partner Claire Boucher — known by her stage name Grimes — also told Isaacson that Musk once stayed up all night playing the “Elden Ring” video game when it first came out.
