New Delhi: Artificial Intelligence (AI) industry is booming with fresh opportunities and is captivating many eyes. Established in 1990, McKinsey Global Institute published a new study titled “Generative AI and the Future of Work of America”. The study exhibits the potential impression of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the job market in the United States. The report states that a significant swap in employment opportunities will result from AI and the changing consumer habits in varied industries.

Due to the takeover by AI, people will be left with no choice but to switch or hunt for other employment opportunities.

The study mentioned some jobs, which have higher chances of being influenced by the emerging AI trends- demand for clerks could decline by 1.6 million jobs, loss of 8,30,000 jobs in retail salespersons along with a 7,10,000 decrease in the employment for administrative assistants and cashiers by 6,30,000.

Above listed jobs are at significant risk of being ousted as they have a high share of repetitive tasks, data collection and elementary data processing. These are the activities, which can be performed well by automated systems in the US job market.

Do Indian jobs need to fear AI?

Earlier, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar in his interview with a media person said that the Indian government has laid out a blueprint for the existence of AI in the nation. It entails the areas where robotisation can enter and where it can not.

The minister replied to the question of whether AI will be replacing Indian jobs or not. He said, “I think AI will disrupt but it will also bring opportunities”,

Adding further Chandrashekhar added, “It gives an opportunity to create AI-ready skilled talent which really has a shortage all around the world and India can be in furture a hub for AI-ready talent for India and the rest of the world.”
