Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present his first state budget in the Assembly today at 2 PM. This marks his debut as the finance minister in the budget session. In February 2024, his predecessor, former CM Manohar Lal Khattar, had presented the last budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year while holding the finance portfolio.
Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana has said that the upcoming state budget for the financial year 2025-26 will prioritize the agriculture sector. Emphasizing the government's commitment to farmers' welfare, he highlighted that special provisions will be made to strengthen the sector. He reiterated that the "double-engine government" is dedicated to uplifting the farming community and ensuring sustainable agricultural growth.
During a budget session discussion, Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Vipul Goel, underscored the government's commitment to cow protection. He revealed that since 2014, the budget for cow welfare has surged from Rs 2 crore to Rs 425 crore. Additionally, funds for cattle fodder, previously Rs 1.85 crore, have increased significantly, with Rs 163 crore allocated this year to cow shelters. The state has also established two cow sanctuaries in Panipat and Hisar, rehabilitating nearly 6,000 stray cattle.
Addressing the Haryana Vidhan Sabha on the first day of the Budget session, Governor Bandaru Dattatraya reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to the vision of 'Viksit Haryana-Viksit Bharat.' He urged all members of the House to work collectively towards the holistic development of the state, ensuring progress across key sectors.
