New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday suspended the foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence of the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) allegedly over violation of norms.  BRC is a prominent public think-tank organisation.

The CPR came first under scrutiny after the Income Tax Department launched a survey on it along with Oxfam India, a not-for-profit organisation, in September last year.

As the Home Ministry suspended the FCRA licence of CPR, It will not be able to accept any financial aid from overseas countries.

According to official sources, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Duke University, the World Resources Institute and the University of Pennsylvania are on the donor list of the Centre for Policy Research (CPR).

CPR is a non-profit organisation, which also receives grants from the Indian Council for Social Science Research and is a recognised institute of the Department of Science and Technology.

According to the CPR website, it has been a leading public policy think-tank since 1973. It got an FCRA licence in 2016.
