Reports from telecom companies indicate a possible hike in recharge plans. Nearly all private sector providers are planning to raise their recharge rates between November and December 2025. Be it Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea- every telecom providers will hike the recharge at the end of this year. As far as now there are no reports of a possible increase in BSNL recharge.
Hike By The End Of This Year
Reports suggest that telecom companies may raise recharge prices by the end of the year, around November-December. Last July, private telecom players like Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone-Idea had already increased their recharge rates. As a result, many customers switched to the government-owned BSNL. However, the lack of reliable network coverage there provided little relief. These companies had explained that the price hike was necessary as the rates had not been adjusted since the launch of 5G services.
Reasons
According to various reports, telecom companies argue that expanding the 5G network and covering technical costs require significant investments. To meet these expenses, they say, the only option is to increase recharge prices. Additionally, companies have highlighted the costs of acquiring spectrum and upgrading infrastructure. According to reports, the average cost of a mobile recharge is currently Rs 200 per month. If the recharge plans become more expensive, this cost could rise to Rs 349.
Tips To Avoid The Upcoming Hike
- Consider BSNL: BSNL is the only public sector telecom company that hasn’t indicated any price hikes yet.
- Check Network Availability: If BSNL has good coverage in your area, porting your number to BSNL can help you save money.
- Opt for Long-Term Plans: Recharge with a 365-day plan before the hike takes effect. This will let you lock in the current rates for an entire year.
- Plan Ahead: Staying a step ahead of the price hike can help reduce your monthly expenses on mobile services.
