Sundar Pichai was born to Regunatha Pichai, an electrical engineer with British conglomerate GEC, and Lakshmi, a stenographer, in 1972. Moreover, his introduction to technology began at age 12 when his father brought home a rotary phone.
Pichai earned his degree in metallurgical engineering from IIT Kharagpur, which was followed by an MS in material science and engineering from Stanford University. He then completed an MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar.

Pichai began his journey at Google as Vice President of Product Management, initially working on the Google Toolbar. One of his early achievements was convincing co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page of the need for Google to develop its own web browser, which paved the way for the famous Google Chrome.
In 2006, when Microsoft made Bing the default search engine on Internet Explorer, posing a threat to Google, Pichai pushed for Google to launch Chrome to tackle the threat.
In 2013, Pichai took charge of Android due to his “substance over style” approach. He’s also key to developing Chrome OS for Google’s Chromebooks. Furthermore, Pichai is believed to have played a major role in orchestrating Google’s $3.2 billion acquisition of Nest in 2014.
