Bengaluru Traffic Police issued an advisory to the commuters using East Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road and other areas surrounding it. The police said these areas experience heavy traffic congestion, because of waterlogging and other incidents causing a larger inconvenience for the commuters.
The traffic police advised the commuters to try to take different alternative routes that would help reduce travel times, especially in the rush hours. While delivering details, the Bengaluru City HAL Airport Traffic Police Station said that the advisory was released after they had received repeat complaints from any passerby and locals.
The police advised the passengers travelling from Bellandur towards commercial hubs and the residential areas of Devarabeesanahalli Junction to go along the service roads for reducing movement through key roads. In addition to this, the employees travelling to several corporate offices including Intel, Global Tech Park, Eco Space, Pritech Park, should use the right lane of the Outer Ring Road and then take the middle service road at the Devarabeesanahalli Junction to try to avoid hurry.
The authority also stated that commuters going into the busy areas such as Passport Office, Eco World, and Sakra Hospital should take the left lane and go through the Passport Office service road. However, the passengers moving towards Marathahalli can use the middle lane of the OTR from the Bellandur side. Given that rain is coming, the traffic police have advised commuters to follow their instructions and plan to travel accordingly to deal with the inconveniences.
Earlier on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that several areas of Bengaluru are likely to see rain for the next few days. The weather department also stated that while rain is likely to ease the cool capping heat by cooling the maximum temperature, it is likely to produce other problems such as waterlogging and power cuts.
