New Delhi: Delhi BJP says that AAP should conduct an Assembly session to discuss the Yamuna flood and claimed that the amount of Rs 10,000 which is finalized as a relief fund for affected people is ‘very little.’

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said in a press conference, “This compensation is too little for the affected people who have lost all their belongings and means of livelihood. One cannot even meet their monthly expenses with a sum of Rs 10,000.”

Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, urged the Kejriwal government to promptly call for the Monsoon session of the Assembly to address the issue of floods in the national capital.

Revenue Minister Atishi expressed her frustration over the delays in processing relief aid for the flood-affected people in Delhi. To address the situation, she directly communicated with the Chief Secretary, urging him to deploy all officers on Saturday and Sunday. This would ensure the efficient transfer of relief aid to those affected by the floods on Monday.

She tweeted, “I was shocked to find that, out of 4,716 families who were staying in relief camps during the flood, only 197 families have received the 10,000 ex gratia relief of the Delhi Government.”

She added, “Given the number of officers deployed for flood relief and rehabilitation, each of these officers had to process the relief for 70 families. This means they had to provide relief to 7 families per day, And that too has not been done. Such laxity is absolutely shocking.”

She highlighted that on July 15, the Chief Secretary had instructed senior officials to oversee and support the District Administration in their efforts for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation work. However, despite ten days passing since the cabinet’s decision to provide ₹10,000 as a relief to affected families, “19 IAS and 18 DANICS officers, along with 6 DMs, 6 ADMs, and 1 SDM,” have been unable to process this relief package for just 4,716 families.
