Mumbai: The Mumbai Dabbawalas were seen buying Puneri Pagadi and a shawl for King Charles as they were going to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III and his wife Camilla on May 6.

According to ANI, they have been invited by the British Consulate and British Embassy. When Queen Elizabeth II died in 2022, the Mumbai Dabbawala Association mourned and paid emotional respect to the longest-serving British monarch.

Subhash Talekar, Association Chairman said, “Mumbai Dabbawala Association has had a very close relationship with British Royal Family ever since Prince Charles visited India. We’re very sad to hear about the death of Queen Elizabeth II and all Dabbawalas pray that her soul rest in peace.”

On May 6, King Charles, 74, will be formally crowned as monarch at Westminster Abbey in London.

Mumbai’s dabbawalas are well-known around the world for their lunchbox delivery and return system, which provides hot meals from homes and restaurants to individuals at work.
