Attacks on Hindus: Delhi’s Auto Parts Traders Boycott Business With Bangladesh Till January 15

The move follows reports of violence against Hindus and attacks on temples in Bangladesh.

In a strong response to the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, auto parts traders in Delhi’s Kashmere Gate have announced a boycott of business dealings with Bangladesh. The move follows reports of violence against Hindus and attacks on temples in Bangladesh. Vinay Narang, president of the Automotive Parts Merchants’ Association, stated that the Kashmere Gate auto parts market has decided to halt business with Bangladesh in response to the alleged atrocities committed against Hindus and the recent attacks on temples.

“There are about 20,000 auto parts shops in Kashmere Gate and 2,000 shops may be exporting to Bangladesh, all of them have stopped their work (with Bangladesh). Their payment is stuck but they are not worried about that either. We have decided to continue this till January 15. We will continue with this if needed,” said Narang.

Bangladesh requests India to extradite Sheikh Hasina

India has received a formal communication from Bangladesh regarding an extradition request for Sheikh Hasina, the former prime minister of Bangladesh. Currently, a caretaker government is in charge in the neighboring country.

Bangladesh’s de facto foreign minister Touhid Hossain said Dhaka wants Hasina back to face the judicial process.

“We have sent a note verbale to the Indian government saying that Bangladesh wants her back here for the judicial process,” Hossain told reporters in Dhaka.

A note verbale is an unsigned diplomatic message in third person.

Sheikh Hasina Accused Of Genocide

The Muhammad Yunus-led interim government has filed about 200 cases against Sheikh Hasina, related to murders occurring during the student protests.

Media reports claim, that more than 230 people were killed in the student protests demanding the withdrawal of reservations for descendants of those who participated in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Hasina, other politicians and top officials have been held responsible for these deaths.
Ms Hasina, 77, left her country on August 5 following massive protests that toppled her 16-year regime.
