Delhi Pollution: Air Quality Improves To ‘Moderate’ Amid Weather Transition; Check AQI Forecast For Next 5 Days

Delhi’s weather is undergoing transition, which is evident from differences in maximum and minimum temperatures. The Maximum and Minimum temperatures over Delhi are currently in the range of 22 to 25°C and 9 to 11 degrees Celsius.

Delhi Pollution: The air quality in the national capital has shown significant improvement bringing much-needed respite to the residents. The AQI has been recorded in the ‘moderate’ category at 170, on Thursday at 8 am, according to the CPCB. Favourable meteorological conditions have led to the improvement in the air quality. These include better mixing height, ventilation coefficient and much favourable meteorological conditions for dispersion of pollutants, said the CAQM.

Weather Forecast For Delhi

Delhi’s weather is undergoing transition, which is evident from differences in maximum and minimum temperatures. The Maximum and Minimum temperatures over Delhi are currently in the range of 22 to 25°C and 9 to 11 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted shallow fog over parts of Delhi during night and morning hours on Thursday. The Maximum and Minimum temperatures will remain 25 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively.

AQI Forecast For Coming Days

The air quality had been reeling under the ‘very poor’ and ‘poor category’ for the past few weeks. This is the first time in the month of February that AQI is under the ‘moderate’ category. Experts and forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) earlier predicted that there will be improvement in the air quality in coming days

According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the air quality is likely to be in the Poor category from 7 to 8 February. The AQI is likely to be in the Poor to Very Poor category on 5 February and subsequent 6 Days.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Monday, 3 January revoked GRAP stage III restrictions after declining trend of AQI was observed. The notification of CAQM read as, “The AQI of Delhi has been recorded as 286 for 03.02.2025 which is 64 paints below the 350 mark to implement the Stage Ill as per the extant directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Further, the forecast by IMD predicts very light rain/ drizzle and favourable wind conditions in the days to come.”
