Delhi Pollution: AQI Remains ‘Very Poor’, IMD Issues Orange Alert For Cold Day And Dense Fog

IMD in its 7 days forecast for Delhi, has predicted rain and thundershowers on 11 and 12 January. Experts have predicted that this might bring some relief from the deteriorating air pollution.

Delhi Pollution: The national capital continues to experience ‘very poor’ air quality for the third consecutive day this week. The AQI was recorded at 322 on Wednesday at 6 am by the CPCB. Delhi woke up to cold morning with slightly varying minimum temperature. The India Meteorological Department. (IMD) has issued orange alert for cold day and very dense fog today. The maximum and minimum temperatures will remain 16 and 8 degrees Celsius respectively.

As per IMD, the maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are in the range of 15 to 18°C and 9 to 12°C respectively.

Jahangirpuri (372), R K Puram (363), Wazirpur (364), Mundka (355), Patparganj (351), Rohini (344), Ashok Vihar (343), Bawana (349), Chandni Chowk (299), Najafgarh (299), Lodhi Road (297).

Delhi Pollution: AQI To Decline?

Experts predict that AQI levels will further decrease in the coming days, providing residents with some relief from the deteriorating air pollution. Favorable meteorological conditions will provide the relief.

CAQM said, “Owing to the favourable meteorological conditions and better wind speed, the AQI of Delhi has been continuously improving and has been recorded as 339 at 4:00 PM and 335 at 5:00 PM and the trend/ forecast indicates the AQI levels to further go down. As per the Air Quality and Weather, forecast provided by IMD/ IITM, there is a further likelihood of AQI of Delhi to remain in ‘Poor’ category in the coming days owing to favourable meteorological conditions.”

Furthermore, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Sunday revoked the Stage-III actions under the GRAP.
