Greater Noida: A shocking tragedy unfolded on Saturday evening when a 4-year-old boy reportedly died after being crushed by a Mahindra Thar in Ecotech 3 area of Greater Noida. As per reports, the Thar driver immediately rushed the child to a nearby hospital, however, he could not survive. Police arrested the car driver for killing the child due to negligence.
According to the police, the accused identified as the victim’s landlord Gajendra was reversing his vehicle when the toddler suddenly came under the wheels of the Thar. The victim, identified as Prashant Singh, lived in a rented apartment with his mother in Jalpura, Ecotech 3. His father had earlier died in a road accident in Budaun about 3 years ago.
“On Saturday evening at 5 pm when the boy’s mother was engaged in household chores, he sneaked out of the house and through the main entrance gate. When the driver Gajendra was reversing his Thar, the boy came under the vehicle’s wheels,” a police officer, seeking anonymity said.
The officer further remarked that the vehicle’s sensors failed to alert Gajendra, so the boy was crushed by the rear wheels. The children playing nearby spotted the boy and informed him. Gajendra quickly rushed him to a private hospital, however, the doctors referred him to another hospital, where he was declared dead. A case of rash driving and negligence was filed against the car driver by Prashant’s relative under sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
