Noida: In a significant move, the Yamuna Development Authority has approved a key proposal to enhance the connectivity of Noida International Airport. Under the proposal, the authority aims to link the Yamuna Tatbandh Road to National Highway 9 (NH-9). According to reports, the decision was taken during a board meeting where the project presented by the Noida Authority was given a green light.
The next step involves the submission of the proposal to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). The Noida Authority has been working constantly to begin the proposed project for the past six months. NHAI’s consultancy firm has played a major role in overcoming all the posed challenges. Finally, after getting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Yamuna Embarkment Road, NHAI can fast-track the completion of the project.
Once completed, commuters will be able to access a new eight-lane on-ground expressway or a six-lane elevated road. This road will reportedly run parallel to the Yamuna embankment, benefitting over 10 lakh people. Meanwhile, it also aims to offer relief from heavy traffic jams and ease congestion on the route. Additionally, the construction of a Chilla elevated road is currently underway.
The five-kilometer-long stretch will extend to Mahamaya flyover in Noida Sector 94 and will link the Yamuna embankment road. According to Noida Authority CEO Dr. Lokesh M., efforts are underway to get approval for the proposed project from the NHAI Chairman. Once the project is successfully implemented, the connectivity of Noida International Airport will be enhanced.
