New Delhi: The National Capital, including Delhi-NCR, received the monsoon’s first heavy rain on Friday, which has cooled down the temperature. According to IMD reports, this weather is going to last for a few more days.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow advisory for Delhi and NCR cities such as Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad on early Sunday morning, warning of a new spell of rain.
Heavy rains are likely to persist in the Delhi NCR for the next 24 hours, with temperatures in neighbouring states such as Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh dropping. Rains are also anticipated to generate heavy traffic for commuters in Delhi.
Charan Singh, Head of IMD in Delhi said, “This week, North-West India, including Delhi, will witness rain, the intensity of the rain will be high for 2-3 days, and the intensity will reduce after that. There will be some relief from the heat during this period.”
MeT department tweets, “Light to moderate intensity rain would continue over many places of Delhi and NCR, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Assandh, Safidon, Panipat, Gohana, Gannaur, Meham, Sonipat, Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Kosali, Sohana, Rewari (Haryana).”
