A Mumbai-based panipuri seller’s son secured a seat in IIT on his second attempt. The boy, who once failed his Class 11 exams, scored excellent marks in Class 12 and bagged a seat in one of the country’s most prestigious institutions.
Harsh secured a seat in IIT-Roorkee
According to NDTV, Harsh Gupta, a resident of Kalyan, went to Kota for coaching and secured a seat at IIT-Roorkee. Harsh’s achievement reflects his grit and hard work, as he did not give in to circumstances and pursued his dream of becoming an engineer.
Hard work paid off
Harsh’s father runs a panipuri stall in Kalyan. Harsh did not clear his Class 11 exams. He retook the examination and appeared for the engineering test, but he did not get the seat of his choice. Harsh decided to take a second attempt. He obtained 98.59% in IIT Mains, appeared for JEE Advanced, and cleared the examination with a seat in IIT.
‘My family supported me’
“After failing the Class 11 exams. I decided to go to Kota. My family supported me in my decision… I always dreamt of clearing IIT and securing a seat in either IIT Mumbai or Roorkee,” NDTV quoted Harsh as saying.
Harsh said his father always encouraged him to study. He shared a message for other aspirants, saying they shouldn’t let failure define them. He added that he is the first IITian in his family and his school.
