Physics Wallah Exclusive Interview: Alakh Pandey, the founder of PhysicsWallah, has recently addressed the ongoing paper leak allegations made against him surrounding the CBSE board exams. In a conversation with News24, Pandey responded to the paper leak news and made detailed remarks, shedding light on the rumours. On being asked about the recent viral video involving him and the allegations of a paper leak, he said, “No, no, it’s nothing like that. What happened is, there’s a girl from a school. I had just gone outside the school to see how the students’ papers went. So, she just came and said that the entire paper matched what I had taught. But it’s not a paper leak.”
He further added, “The CBSE syllabus is not very vast, If you do proper research for what questions are likely to come, based on what came last year, it’s not that difficult. With just a week of research, you can figure it out. That’s exactly what I did, and I told the students the questions that could come four days before the exam, as there was a four-day gap before the exam. Coincidentally, all those questions appeared in the exam. So, it’s not that there was a paper leak. I predicted certain things, and they came in the exam.”
When asked about being named a ‘hacker in another world’ in the comments section of the viral video, he remarked, “Well, it’s fine if the kids give names, they’re young, in the 10th grade, around 16 years old. I feel that we should take their comments lightly and not too seriously. That’s why if you do proper research, it can be very easy. Another thing is, after watching the viral video, the kids are calling me a hacker and that the paper was leaked. But there were also many sets where my questions didn’t appear. Some questions were twisted.”
Meanwhile, he requested CBSE, through the News24 platform, in favour of the students, regarding the CBSE exam question sets. He said, “Sometimes, even though the questions seem similar, a science teacher might think one is easy and the other is a bit difficult. So, what happens in cases like this is that the students who get the difficult sets are at a disadvantage. We already have a solution for this. In JEE Mains, for example, the exams are held on different days, and based on the difficulty level, the percentile is adjusted. So, if the paper is difficult and the student gets lower marks, their percentile is higher. We could implement this system within the CBSE Board as well.”
