The long-awaited movie ‘Kannappa’, by actor-producer Vishnu Manchu, has hit the screens today. The fantasy film, based on mythology, is drumming up a lot of interest among fans nationwide. Recently, Vishnu Manchu addressed an event before the release of the film and talked about his plans to release the film in a digital format.
He evidently stated that Kannappa would not appear on any OTT platform for 10 weeks. This is because the team wishes that people should watch the film in theatres without any rush to post it online. Vishnu further revealed that the OTT rights of the film are not sold yet.
He said, “I have a very large freedom; my movie will not come to OTT before 10 weeks. That is the deal I have, and by God’s grace, I don’t have any release pressure. My only intention is to showcase the best to the audience,” as reported by India Today.
There is further good news about the film as the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to increase its ticket price by Rs 50 to release Kannappa in theatres. A copy of an official order regarding this has even become viral on the internet, indicating how massive this release is to the industry.
About the film
Kannappa is a mythological fantasy thriller about the story of a huge devotee of Lord Shiva. Vishnu Manchu enacts the lead character as Kannappa. Major actors such as Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar and Madhoo also have major parts in the movie.
The movie gets an added bonus with special guest appearances of some of the largest stars of India: Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Mohanlal as Kirata, Prabhas as Rudra, and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati.
The film finds its release in a total of five languages, which include Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. A small group of the media were also shown Kannappa prior to the official launch, and the initial reactions claim that it is a spectacular and emotional film packed with visuals and devotion.
