Bollywood’s king Shah Rukh Khan is always spotted in limited red-carpet appearances but this time he has surprised his fans and family by attending the iconic Met Gala 2025 event, held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
His debut marked a significant moment, not only for the actor but also for Indian cinema as he has became the first male actor to attend the Met Gala.
How Sabyasachi Mukherjee Convinced Shah Rukh Khan to Attend
In a candid conversation with Vogue at the event, Shah Rukh Khan has shared how renowned Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee played an important role behind his appearance at the event.
He said, “I don’t know about history, and I am extremely nervous and excited, Sabyasachi Mukherjee has convinced me to come here. I’ve not done too many red carpets, I’m very shy. For me, this is the first time.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s On His Family Reaction
Shah Rukh Khan also revealed how his family reacted to his decision of attending Met Gala debut. “For me, the most exciting thing is that I have little kids who are excited about the Met Gala. I don’t know if I would have come here on my own, but when Sabya suggested that I should come, they went ‘Wow,’” he said. “I still don’t know if it’s ‘Wow, they called you’ or ‘Wow, you’ll be good on it.’”
Other Indian Celebrities At Met Gala 2025
Along with Shah Rukh Khan, the Met Gala 2025 is also seeing the debut of actress Kiara Advani and singer Diljit Dosanjh. Priyanka Chopra who has previously attended the event multiple times has also made her fifth appearance with husband Nick Jonas.
