Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently shared how he enjoys interacting in with crowds and fans. While it’s this often leads to some unusual moments. He revealed that sometimes even on the sets of his own films, security guards stop him from entering.
Early Struggles And Hurtful Comments
During the appearance on second edition of the Cinevesture International Film Festival, Nawazuddin recalled how, in his struggling years people used to question if he was truly an actor or not. “I would get angry. You go to someone’s office, introduce yourself as an actor, and they would ask, ‘Who are you?’ I’d say I’m an actor, and they’d respond, ‘You don’t look like one’,” he said.
Nawazuddin also recalled interviewers telling him he looked ‘unconventional’. to this he wittily repiled : “Bhai, how am I unconventional when crores of people look like me in India? I’m conventional — it’s Hrithik Roshan who looks unconventional.”

He also shared a anecdote from of Talaash, Nawazuddin said a security guard stopped him from entering the set. Only after convincing the guard was he allowed in.
He revealed how even today, During the shooting of his recent film Raat Akeli Hai Part 2, he said, “I would be standing right behind Honey Trehan sir, and he would be searching for me. I would say, ‘Sir, I am right here.’ I like this — I can easily merge into the crowd, and I take advantage of it.”
Facing Colourism and Self-Doubt
Earlier, in an interview with News18 Showsha, Nawazuddin had spoken about colourism and harsh judgement based on looks. He admitted that constant comments had made him believe he was unattractive. He said, “I don’t know why some people hate the way we look. Maybe it’s because we are so ugly. Even I think that when I look in the mirror. I question why I came into the film industry with such a bad appearance.”
