Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy: Ranveer Allahbadia, popular YouTuber and podcaster, got involved into a massive controversy due to his remark at India’s Got Latent. In a new development to this, the Supreme Court has now allowed Ranveer to resume releasing his podcast ‘The Ranveer Show’. The SC also asked him to maintain the ‘morality and decency’ in his podcast.
The SC ordered, “As of now petitioners were restrained from airing any shows. Subject to the petitioner furnishing an undertaking that his podcast shows will maintain the desired standards of morality and decency so that viewers of any age group can watch, the petitioner is permitted to resume the Ranveer Show.”
For the unversed, Ranveer had filed an application in the Supreme Court, seeking lifting of one part of the order which refrained him from airing the new episodes of show.
About The Controversy:
Ranveer appeared on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent with YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani and social media influencer Apoorva Makhija in the latest episode. The backlash was caused due to Ranveer’s question for one contestant as he said, “Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life. Or would you join in once and stop it forever?”
These comments caused huge backlash, which led to many people demanding ban of India’s Got Latent and Ranveer’s podcasts. The controversy escalated when the complaint were also filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission for allegedly using abusive language on the show.
All Indian Cine Workers’ Associations (AICWA) wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, demanding a ban on ‘India’s Got Latent’ and legal action against its creators.
Ranveer later apologised for statements and has not released a new episode on his YouTuber channel. Meanwhile, Samay Raina deleted all the episodes of India’s Got Latent.
