Shakira took to Instagram and X on Sunday afternoon to share the unfortunate news with her fans where she said “i am sorry to inform you all that last night i had to go to the er for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised. The doctors whose care i am currently under have communicated that i am not in good enough condition to perform this evening. i am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I have been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru. My team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you.”

Shakira arrived in Peru on Friday evening, following two electrifying performances in Brazil. The country was the second stop on her Latin American tour, where she was set to perform on Sunday and Monday. Fans in Lima had eagerly anticipated her shows, with crowds gathering at the airport to welcome the pop icon. “Thank you for such an emotional welcome, Lima!” she had posted on Instagram just a day before she got unwell.
