Late actor Irrfan Khan once expressed how deeply he admired Shashi Kapoor, calling him a lifelong inspiration. When Shashi Kapoor passed away, Irrfan was inconsolable and shared heartfelt memories that showed just how much the legendary actor meant to him.
Admiring Shashi Kapoor’s Charm And Choices
“I have always admired his feather-like presence on screen. Light, breezy, charming, and entertaining. Over the years, I was fascinated by his choices — especially as a producer who made great films,” Irrfan had said. He also praised Kapoor’s dedication to Prithvi Theatre, calling it his Taj Mahal for his wife Jennifer.
A Fanboy Moment In Morocco
Irrfan recalled a special moment at the Morocco Film Festival. “He called me, ‘Hey you, come here,’ and ruffled my hair. He said, ‘Do you remember we acted in a pilot together?’ I was embarrassed as I couldn’t recall. But I was so impressed by Shashiji’s memory.” However, the film pilot was never released in theatres.

A Touching Encounter On A Flight
Irrfan also shared another memorable meeting with his idol. “Years later, I met him again on a flight, accompanied by his son Kunal. We were both going to the President’s awards. I sat near his feet, held his hands. He shook my hand while looking at Kunal with blank eyes, trying to ask who I was. That’s life.”
Irrfan concluded his tribute by saying, “He was special and will always be special in our hearts.”
