The sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak, Dhadak 2 starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, has received a new release date as it has now received a U/A certificate from the CBFC. The romantic drama is now scheduled to hit theatres on August 1, 2025, after facing delay due to certification issues by the CBFC.
The announcement was made on Monday via an Instagram post by the Dharma movies, featuring new posters of the lead pair. The caption read:
“मरने और लड़ने में से एक को चुनना हो… तो लड़ना। #Dhadak2 आ रही है सभी सिनेमाघरों में – 1st August 2025.”

It was initially scheduled for November 22, 2024 but then the film faced a setback after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)which reportedly asked for 16 edits, including modifications to politically sensitive dialogues, caste based terms, and religious references. A doha by Tulsidas was also replaced with a more metaphorical line.
The original Dhadak was a Hindi adaptation of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat and launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter.
The storyline of the sequel is based on Mari Selvaraj’s 2018 Tamil drama film Pariyerum Perumal, starring Kathir and Anandhi. It directed by Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 is produced by Karan Johar, along with Umesh Kumar Bansal, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Aroraa, Somen Mishra, and Pragati Deshmukh. A Dharma Productions film, it is presented by Zee Studios, Dharma Productions, and Cloud 9 Pictures.
