THROWBACK: When Late Actor Manoj Kumar Reacted Hilariously To Winning The Dadasaheb Phalke Award- ‘People Should Be Fooled In April…’

When late actor Manoj Kumar was interviewed by News 24 on the occasion winning Dada Saheb Phalke award.

A legendary name in Hindi Cinema, veteran actor Manoj Kumar, passed away at the age of 87. He took his last breath in the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Reportedly, he was suffering from heart-related issues. Kumar was an Indian actor, director, screenwriter, and lyricist who was well known for making films with patriotic themes and acting skills. He was also honoured with the Padma Shri in 1992 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his films.

News 24 also did an exclusive interview with Manoj Kumar on the occasion when he was honoured with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 2015. The award was granted because of his immense contribution to Indian Cinema with the renowned patriotic films like Shaheed, Upkar, and Purab Aur Paschim.

While speaking, he shared his experience of the feelings he was getting at the moment by saying, “It’s March month people should fool someone in April.” Further, he continued, “My eyes were filled with gratitude looking up in the sky and then to my parent’s picture, it’s difficult to explain and there still more to experience in life”. Further, when he was asked about the delay in receiving the award, he mentioned,” Yes, there must be some work I did for what government had offered me this award, and I’m grateful to them.” He further highlighted the main purpose of Dada Saheb Phalke said, “he never produces any film just to earn profit but to preserve our discipline, culture and traditional values.” He shared his desire to direct new film with eagerness to work with the new technology and equipments by stating,” Aage kaam karna hai…”. He concluded the interview by dedicating a few lines of the songs like Rang de Basanti Chola and Mere Desh ki Dharti to the nation.

Now, as per Manoj Kumar’s son, Kunal Goswami, the last rites of the veteran actor will be performed on April 5, Saturday, at 11 AM near Nanavati Hospital in Pawan Hans cremation ground.
