Kamal Haasan recently talked about the imposition of Hindi on other states. He said, “Without imposition, we will learn. Don’t impose, because this is ultimately education and we must take the shortest route to education… and not put hurdles in its way.”
He emphasised that resistance to Hindi imposition is not just a southern concern, and said, calling for linguistic inclusivity across India, “I stand with Punjab. I stand with Karnataka. I stand with Andhra. This is not the only place which is a resenting imposition.”
He also voiced the frustrations of non-Hindi speakers and said, “You suddenly force all through Hindi and you tell them that you will not get your job beyond the Vindhyas, then you start wondering, what about the promises? What about my language? Am I not one of the 22 (official languages)? These are the questions that are coming.”
The team of Thug Life earlier promoted their movie in Delhi and interacted with the media. During this interaction, Kamal Haasan talked about keeping an eight-week OTT window for Thug Life. For the unversed, many actors and filmmakers have talked about how OTT has been impacting the theatrical business. While speaking about this, he revealed that the team of Thug Life requested the OTT platform to have an eight-week gap for the streaming release. He further emphasised that this move can help other movies too.
