Vicky Kaushal’s recent historical drama, Chhaava, has been illicitly leaked online on 1,818 digital platforms, causing a huge setback to its box office collection. An investigation against unauthrorised distribution was launched by the authorities and legal action was taken against it under various cyber laws.
Massive Piracy Threatens Chhaava
Despite being one of the biggest hit of 2025, Chhaava has fallen prey to large scale piracy. The film had been released on February 14 and earned a total Rs.680 crores but even after such massive hit the movie was illegally uploaded across several digital platforms, allowing viewers to access it illegally for free. This has raised serious concerns for filmmakers and industry professionals regarding cyber crime.
Complaint Filed Against Digital Leak
As per ETimes reports, August Entertainment Pvt. Ltd registered a formal complaint about the release of Chhaava. Rajat Rahul Haksar, the CEO of the anti-piracy agency, brought the massive leak to the notice of authorities. The case is currently being investigated by the South Cyber Police, who have invoked the Copyright Act, Cinematograph Act and IT Act to trace the culprits.

Star Cast Of The Movie
The movie also stars Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Vineet Kumar Singh, Diana Penty, and Santosh Juvekar in pivotal roles. It is produced By Dinesh Vijan under the banner Maddock Films and co-produced by Sharada Karki Jalota and Pooja Prem Patheja. Meanwhile, the screenplay is done by Laxman Utekar, Rishi Virmani, Kaustubh Savarkar, Unman Bankar and Omkar Mahajan.
Chhaava has become the biggest solo opener of Vicky Kaushal’s career. It has far outperformed his previous hits, with his last highest opener collecting ₹8.62 crore, while ‘Uri’ had an opening of ₹8.20 crore. With this, Chhaava has set a new benchmark for the actor.
