Veteran actress, dancer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Vyjayantimala Bali is alive. As the false reports of her death circulating online, her son, Suchindra Bali, took WhatsApp Status to confirm that she is in good condition. He urged people to verify news before sharing, saying, “Dr. Vyjayantimala Bali is in good health, and any news otherwise is false. Before sharing, please validate the news source”

She was born on August 13, 1933, and started her journey in the performing arts at a very early age, under the guidance of her grandmother, Yadugiri Devi. Vyjayantimala made her acting debut in 1949 with the Tamil film ‘Vaazhkai’. After just one year of her debut, she later made her first appearance in bollywood with Bahar in 1951.
With each passing year, Vyjayantimala slowly became a household name. Actress was starred in various popular films like Nagin (1954), Devdas (1955), New Delhi (1956), Madhumati (1958), Ganga Jumna (1961), Sangam (1964), and Jewel Thief (1967).
Vyjayantimala was one of the first actresses to demand high pay for her work and played strong female lead roles in the films of her time. Her versatility as both an actress and a Bharatanatyam dancer helped her to carve a niche for herself in the industry and garner widespread love.
Vyjayantimala’s Retirement From Industry
After making her name and getting great success in acting and dance, Vyjayantimala took retirement from the film industry in the late 1960s.
After quitting from entertainment industry she later stepped into politics where she as a Member of Parliament from 1984 to 1999, representing both the well-known parties, i.e. Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Still at the agle 91, Vyjayantimala Bali remains a legend in the world of Indian cinema and dance.
