In his 40s, a television actor, Lalit Manchanda, died by suicide at his Meerut Prahalad Nagar residence in Uttar Pradesh on Monday night, April 21, 2025. The local legal authorities responded quickly to this case report. At the moment, officials found Manchanda’s body hanging inside his home. Police took the body to the nearby hospital for postmortem examination.
Currently, no suicide note has been found at the place of the incident. Investigation reveals that there is no evidence recovered of the inclusion of unfair means or third-party into the incident. Police continue to carry forward the proceedings related to the case. It has started to gather information from Manchanda’s family and close friends about the case to connect the dots and find the reason for taking this step. Authorities are looking at the case from his mental health point of view by going deeper into his recent life incidents.
Ashok Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Lisari Gate, told TOI, “As soon as we received the information, a team reached the actor’s house and sent the deceased’s body for post-mortem. Prima facie, the actor died by suicide owing to depression and Financial crisis.”
Further, he added, “The actor was found hanging from a ceiling fan by his family on Tuesday. They said he was suffering from depression due to financial problems. No formal complaint has been filed in the matter.”
Further details are yet to be discovered as the investigation proceeds. People who are close to the actor shared that he was going through mental stress and personal problems during recent months.
Manchanda had acted in many popular Bollywood movies and TV shows like CID, Crime Patrol, Savdhaan India, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and more, but not as a main hero. People said he was very happy and excited about a new web series he had just started working on.
On Tuesday, this news was shared by the official Instagram account of CINTAA. They shared a post expressing their heartfelt condolences. Along with the picture of the actor, they wrote, “CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Lalit Manchanda (member since 2012).”
