Actor Shalini Pandey recently in an interview recalled a incident from the starting days of her career. Speaking to Filmygyan, she revealed that a film director entered in her vanity van, without knocking.
Set Boundaries Early In Career
Shalini Pandey shared that she always prioritises setting her boundaries in the industry to protect herself. Reflecting on her journey and experience, she said “I have worked with both good and horrid men, on-screen, off-screen and within the crew. You just have to have boundaries.”
She also spoke about encountering unsual behaviour in the industry. She said, “I don’t come from a film family. I was an outsider and had no one to guide me. But looking back, I am glad I set firm boundaries, even if it made me seem tough.”
Recalling The Director Incident
Recalling a scary incident, Shalini said, “Very early in my career while working on a South film, the director just walked into my vanity while I was changing. I was shocked and yelled at him instantly. I was just 22 at the time and it was an immediate reaction.”
After her immediate reaction, she told that: “People told me I shouldn’t have yelled, saying things like ‘You won’t get films if you behave this way.’ But there has to be basic respect. Just because I was new, it didn’t mean he could enter without knocking.”
Shalini admitted that her strong aura made some people perceive her as ‘angry.’ But she remained still on protecting herself. “I have now learned how to handle such situations differently rather than snapping immediately” she added.
Upcoming Projects
Shalini Pandey was last seen in the Hindi film Maharaj, alongside Junaid Khan. She is now gearing up for her next project, Idly Kadai, directed by Dhanush.
