After Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) spy Qasim was arrested on Friday in Rajasthan’s Mewat Region, now Delhi Police Special Cell has detained his brother Asim. He was taken into custody from Deeg in Rajasthan. However, no arrest has been made yet. Asim is suspected of spying for the Pakistani intelligence agency.
According to reports, he is currently being questioned, and efforts are underway to ascertain whether he was spying for Pakistan earlier. It has been learnt that 34-year-old Qasim is a Maulvi, and ISI reached him through Asim. Qasim is alleged to have received 2 lakh (approx) Pak Rupees (INR 6,1000) in different instalments from Pakistan. He provides them intelligence in exchange for the money, the officials said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Qasim arrived in India from Pakistan a week before the Pahalgam terror attack took place. It has been learnt that he has relatives in Pak and reportedly used these connections to travel there. Additionally, he leveraged them to establish contact with ISI. The Pakistani Intelligence agency allegedly told Qasim that his brother, who spied for them, encouraged him to do the same.
