All does not seem well within Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Senior party leader and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Friday reached Mancherial as part of her ongoing visit to various districts in Telangana.
Party insiders say Kavitha wants a strong hold on the party
Meanwhile, questions are being raised over her visit. Party insiders say that she wants a strong hold on the party and to connect with the people and party workers on the ground.
Sources in the party said that party leadership is keeping a close eye on her visit, especially in light of her rebellious stance. Her visits got attention in the political fraternity after a change in her approach towards party leaders.
Local leaders stayed away during her visit
Murmurs among leaders in Mancherial suggest that attempts are being made to isolate her in the party. The local leaders stayed away during her visit, which hinted at an internal discord within the party.
Kavitha claims BJP merger proposal during jail stay
A political upheaval is being noticed in BRS after a rift surfaced between K Chandrashekar Rao’s son K. T. Rama Rao (KTR), and daughter K Kavitha. On Thursday, K Kavitha made shocking revelations, claiming that a proposal was made to her during her time in jail for her alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam to merge the regional party with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“A proposal was brought to me when I was in jail to merge the party into BJP. But I rejected it. BRS is Rama Raksha to Telangana,” Kavitha said.
‘BRS cannot be operated through social media’
In a veiled attack on her brother K T Rama Rao, Kavitha said the party cannot be operated through social media. She alleged that a few leaders were conspiring against her ouster from the party, and her claim for the post of party president was overlooked because of KTR.
Kavitha wrote a six-page letter to her father KCR, expressing her concerns over structural and functional operations. The letter was leaked, and she blamed party leaders for the breach. Kavitha said she used to apprise her father about the party and sentiments of leaders and workers through letters, but someone has leaked her letter.
Kavitha hinted at launching a new party
Kavitha has hinted at launching a new party if the internal issues are not resolved within the party. She maintained that she is still loyal to the party and her, father KCR. On the other hand, K Kavitha’s supporters are not happy after party leaders are monitoring her activities.
KCR has so far remained silent on the growing differences between his children. It remains to be seen what lies ahead for the party’s future.
