A 3-year-old child fell into a 40-feet borewell in Kul village in Bihar’s Nalanda.

The child has been identified as Shivam Kumar (3), as per officials.

According to sources, the borewell was made by a farmer following which it wasn’t closed leading to the tragic incident. A rescue operation was initiated after children playing with Shivam informed his parents that he had fallen into a borewell in Nagar Panchayat Nalanda.

Nalin Maurya, Vice President of Nagar Panchayat Nalanda, is assisting in the rescue efforts.

Maurya explained that the borewell was initially made by a farmer for boring purposes, but the attempt was unsuccessful, leading them to begin boring in another location, leaving the previous borewell open.

However, Circle Officer, Shambhu Mandal, confirmed that the child was still alive, and they could hear his voice from within the borewell.

Efforts to rescue the child were underway, with JCB machines called to provide oxygen and facilitate the extraction process.

The Police Station In-charge, Dinesh Kumar Singh, stated that every effort was being made to safely bring the child out.

Senior officials were also informed about the incident, and many Parsottam officials reached the location to assist in the rescue operation.
