Chennai: Two Women Among Five Arrested Following Attack On YouTuber Savukku Shankar’s Home – What Exactly Happened?

The arrested persons were identified as Devi, Kalyanakumar, Bharathi, Vijay, and Selva. According to reports, they were produced before a magistrate handling CB-CID cases and later released on bail.

Chennai: Five people, including two women, were arrested following an alleged attack on YouTuber Savukku Shankar’s house in Chennai’s Kilpauk two days ago. On Tuesday, Shankar’s residence was ransacked, and sewage & faecal matter were reportedly dumped there in retaliation for exposing a purported fraud in the distribution of vehicles with jet-routing devices to Dalit entrepreneurs. According to Shankar, the scheme was funded by the central as well as the state government to benefit the Dalits and people who are below the poverty line.

Most Beneficiaries Above Poverty Line

Shankar told ANI, “I exposed a scam in the distribution of vehicles equipped with jet-routing machines to Dalit entrepreneurs. The scheme is sponsored by the central as well as state governments, meant for poor Dalits and scavengers. However, most of the beneficiaries are above the poverty line.” Meanwhile, he alleged that most of the beneficiaries, around 130 were actually above the poverty line.

Shankar Accuses TNCC President

Following his exposure of the scam, Shankar noted that the Chennai City police have filed an FIR against him. He said, “After I exposed the fraud, the Chennai City police registered an FIR against me. When they failed to book me for disclosing it, they adopted this method.” Meanwhile, Shankar allegedly accused TNCC President K. Selvaperunthagai behind the organised attack. The arrested persons were identified as Devi, Kalyanakumar, Bharathi, Vijay, and Selva.

What Exactly Happened?

According to reports, they were produced before a magistrate handling CB-CID cases and later released on bail. On March 24, a group of men disguised as cleanliness workers trespassed into Shankar’s house and ransacked his house. Meanwhile, they dumped sewage on the house’s floor and even threatened his 70-year-old mother who was there. On Suvukku Shankar’s claims against Greater Chennai Police and the Commissioner of Police, the case was transferred to Crime Branch, Crime Investigation Department (CBCID).
