Cop Martyred, 30 Naxalites Gunned Down In Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur – Reports

In a recent encounter in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, one police officer from the Bijapur District Reserve Guard (DRG) was martyred.

As many as 30 Naxalities in two separate encounters in Chhattisgarh were killed after a clash took place between security personnel and Naxalites in the forest area along Bijapur-Dantewada border under Gangaloor PS limit, said Bijapur police.

District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Bijapur suffered fatal injuries, said police, adding that weapons and ammunition were also seized. The police said that the encounter and search operations continued.

Union home minister Amit Shah reacted to the encounter in a post on X and said, “Today our soldiers have achieved another major success in the direction of ‘Naxal Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’. 22 Naxalites were killed in 2 separate operations of our security forces in Bijapur and Kanker of Chhattisgarh.”

He added, “The Modi government is moving forward with a ruthless approach against Naxalites and is adopting a zero tolerance policy against those Naxalites who are not surrendering despite all the facilities ranging from surrender to inclusion. The country is going to be Naxal-free before 31 March next year.”

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said, “So far, the bodies of 18 Naxalites have been recovered, and one of our DRG jawan Raju has also been martyred. The entire government stands with the family, may God give them strength…”.
