From ‘Vomited Dirty Thoughts’ To ‘Ranveer Shows A Perverted Mind’- When SC Pulled YouTuber’s Ears- 5 Key Points!

"There is something very dirty in his mind, which has been vomited by him in the program…He is insulting parents also. Why should the Courts favour him?," Justice Kant asked.

Popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia has shocked the world few days back, when he commented about the parents and sex during an episode of stand-up show ‘India’s Got Latent’. The comment has sparked a wide range of reactions, both supporting and opposing his right to freedom of expression. Now, he has been harshly criticized by India’s top court, which echoed the frustration of the common man regarding the controversial remarks he made under the guise of ‘freedom of expression.’
Here are the five remarks the SC made about the YouTuber.

“Dirty” And “Perverted”

Even though the Court granted him interim relief, during the hearing, the bench severely berated Allahabadia for the language he used and described it as “dirty” and “perverted.”
The court also pulled the ears of Abhinav Chandrachud, who represented Ranveer in the Case.

“If this is not obscenity, then what is obscenity?.. Is the judgment a license to say whatever you want?” – Justice Kant asked Allahbadia

According to Live Law, “Are you defending the kind of language?” Justice Kant asked Abhinav Chandrachud, who was representing Allahabadia. Chandrachud admitted that he was “disgusted” by the language used by Allahabadia but said that the question was whether it constituted any criminal offence. He referred to the judgment in Apoorva Arora case which held that profanity per se would not amount to obscenity.

However, Justice Kant asked “If this is not obscenity, then what is obscenity? Is the judgment [in Apoorva Arora case] a license to say whatever you want?”, Justice Kant asked.

Coming hard on the YouTuber, Justice Kant added that “The dirty language, humiliating FIR used against the persons of Arunachal Pradesh is the subject of the other FIR,”

“There is something very dirty in his mind, which has been vomited by him in the program…He is insulting parents also. Why should the Courts favour him?,” Justice Kant asked.

“Very dirty” in his mind which he ‘vomited’ on the show

The apex court also commented that the podcaster had something “very dirty” in his mind which he ‘vomited’ on the show. “Such behaviour has to be condemned. Just because you are popular, you cannot take society for granted. Is there anyone on earth who would like this language? There is something very dirty in his mind which has been vomited. Why should we protect him.” According to Bar & Bench.

“The words you have chosen, parents will be ashamed, sisters will be ashamed”

“The words you have chosen, parents will be ashamed, sisters will be ashamed. The entire society will feel ashamed. The perverted mind. The perversion you and your henchmen have exhibited! We have a judicial system, bound by the rule of law. If there are threats (against Allahbadia), the law will take course,” he was quoted as saying by Live Law.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh issued an interim order while addressing the writ petition filed by Ranveer Allahbadia, challenging multiple FIRs against him. The court also directed that no further FIRs should be filed regarding the same show. However, the interim protection granted to him comes with the condition that he must join and cooperate with the ongoing investigation. Additionally, the court allowed him the freedom to seek police protection if he faces any threats.

Case Against Ranveer Allahabadia

The apex Court was hearing today a writ petition filed by YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia against the FIRs registered against him across multiple states over his remarks on parents and sex during the “India’s Got Latent” show.
