New Delhi: Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Saturday addressed the G20 Digital Economy Ministers’ Meeting and highlighted the three top priority areas chosen by the Indian presidency of the Digital Economy working group.

The Union Minister said that the three prime concerns of PM Modi are Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), Security in Digital Economy and Digital Scaling.

The Minister adding further said that these concerns align with the broader global agenda of enabling a digital economy, which is secure, all-inclusive and equitable for all.

The Union Minister said, “PM Modi believes in the democratisation of technology. The Minister highlighted Bengaluru’s position as a centre for innovation, harbouring the world’s most developing tech companies.

“We have assembled to deliberate on issues that will define the growth of the digital economy. Bengaluru is home to some of the most innovative companies in the world,” the minister said.

The G20 Digital Economy Ministers Meeting is a platform for nations to come together for sharing insight on pressing issues.

As the discussions wind up, there is an anticipation of the emergence of innovative solutions and collaborative strategies, which will shape the trajectory of the global economy. The innovative solutions are expected to contribute to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a technology-driven future benefitting humanity.

PM Modi addressed the G20 Digital economy through a video message.

He said that 850 million internet users of the country enjoy the services of some of the cheapest data costs in the world, as he highlighted the scale, speed, and scope of India’s digital transformation.

While speaking at the discussions, PM Modi threw a spotlight on the Direct Benefits of Transfer, healing leakages in the system. “Fully digitised taxation systems are promoting transparency and e-governance”, PM Modi said.

Stating a fact about the digital economy facing security threats and challenges as it expands on a global level, PM Modi states that it is mandatory to build consensus on the G-20 High-Level Principles for a Secure, Trusted and Resilient Digital Economy.
