Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday joined the controversy erupted this morning (July 30) with the comments of state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari. The governor made the remarks over financial status of Maharashtra which upset many political outfits and leaders in the state.

Speaking on the issue, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said, “The Governor is the messenger of the President, he takes the words of the President throughout the country. But if he does the same mistakes then who will take action against him? He has insulted the Marathis and their pride.”

“… if he insults the Marathi man, then appropriate decision should be taken, this is my demand on behalf of all Marathi and Hindus,” said Thackeray.

He said: “Mumbai’s history, Maharashtra’s history, Maharashtra is known to the whole world. But not this person holding the post of Governor of Maharashtra.”

The former state CM added, “Now Marathi Manoos is being insulted in Maharashtra itself.”

He also clarified, ” “I am not saying anything about the post of the Governor but the person sitting on that chair should respect that chair.”

Meanwhile, Governor Koshiyari gathered a lot of criticism since the morning for insulting “hard-working Marathi people”.

He had said, “If Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are removed from Maharashtra, especially Mumbai and Thane, no money would be left here. Mumbai would not be able to remain the financial capital of the country.”
