Sonipat’s Anti Gangster Unit, Crime Branch Sector 7, carried out a major operation and arrested wanted criminal Ravi alias Lamba. A total reward of Rs 45,000 was announced for this dangerous accused, included in the list of Delhi and Haryana Police.
On Friday night, there was a shootout between the police and Ravi Lamba on the Barona bypass of Kharkhoda. In the encounter, Ravi was injured by a bullet in his leg, after which he was immediately taken to CHC Kharkhoda for treatment.
Background Of The Case
This arrest has been made under FIR No. 525, dated 16 September 2024, which includes sections 103 (1), 190, 191 (3) of BNS and sections of the Arms Act. Ravi was absconding after breaking parole in this case.
Weapons And Vehicles Recovered
At the time of arrest, a 32-bore pistol and a motorcycle were seized from the accused, which could have been used in a major criminal incident.
About 18 serious cases, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, and robbery, are registered against Ravi alias Lamba. He was also wanted in the murder of Brijesh, brother of gangster Ravi Munia, in the village of Barona.
Investigation has revealed that he has been associated with the Rajesh Bawana gang, and he used to do work like threatening and extortion for this gang.
Haryana Police had announced a reward of Rs 20,000 on him, and Delhi Police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000. The SUAG team ofthe Crime Branch Sector 7 completed this operation with strategy and courage.
As soon as the information of the incident was received, senior officers of Sonipat reached the spot and took stock of the situation. At present, the accused is admitted to the hospital under security cover, and interrogation is going on.
The police is now investigating Ravi’s involvement in his network and other criminal cases. Soon, he will be produced in court and taken on remand so that information about other crimes can also be revealed.
