IMD Weather Update: Delhi AQI Slips To ‘Severe’, Rainfall Alert For Tamil Nadu; Dense Fog Engulfs Northern States

Dense fog conditions will likely persist in the early morning hours of Himachal Pradesh from November 27 to 29. Isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh may also experience the same during Nov 28 to 30.

IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning from November 25 to 28 over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Isolated heavy rain is also expected over the Nicobar Islands today.

According to the latest information and data from IMD, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam & Rayalaseema may experience heavy rain on Nov 26-27.

IMD Weather Update: Forecast & Warnings

IMD has predicted dense fog conditions in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh during the early morning of November 28, and 30. Dense fog conditions will likely persist in the early morning hours of Himachal Pradesh from November 27 to 29. Isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh may also experience the same during Nov 28 to 30.

Weather Systems

According to the latest weather update, under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation over the east Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining the south Andaman Sea & southeast Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area has formed over the east Equatorial Indian.

The weather department said it will likely move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over central parts of the south Bay of Bengal around November 25. Thereafter, it is likely to move northwestwards towards the Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coasts during the subsequent 2 days.

A Western disturbance is now seen as a cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan & neighbourhoods in lower
tropospheric levels, IMD added.

Temperature Conditions And Forecast

IMD observed that minimum temperatures will remain the same in most parts of the country over the next five days. Additionally, the lowest minimum temperature of 8.0°C was reported at
Hissar in Haryana and Sikar in East Rajasthan over the country’s plains.

Fisherman Warning

IMD predicted stormy weather with wind speeds 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph likely to prevail over the Andaman Sea until November 26th. Southeast Bay of Bengal and southwest Bay of Bengal will face stormy weather on Nov 27, while the Comorin area & Gulf of Mannar will have it from Nov 25 to 27, The other places include, the Sri Lanka coast from Nov 25 to 27, south Kerala coast & west-central Bay of Bengal on Nov 26 & 27 and Tamil Nadu coast on Nov 27. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.

IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi

Delhi experienced a slight rise in minimum and maximum temperatures over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. Additionally, there will be a clear sky in the National Capital Region on Nov 25 and 26.

AQI: The air quality index (AQI) slipped back to the ‘severe’ category in Delhi on Saturday.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) bulletin, Delhi’s average AQI was recorded at 412 on Saturday at 4 pm. Also, about 17 stations reported severe air quality as of 7 pm, with Wazirpur being the most polluted with an AQI of 440. As of 6 AM on Sunday, Delhi’s Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 330, while Punjabi Bagh reported a slightly lower AQI of 296.
