IMD Weather Update: Delhi’s AQI Remains ‘Very Poor’, Extremely Heavy Rainfall Alert For Tamil Nadu

IMD has predicted dense fog conditions in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh during the early morning of November 28, and 30.

IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning from November 26 and 27 over Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. Isolated heavy rain is also expected over Kerala & Maha from November 29 to 30 and Andhra Pradesh & Yanam from Nov 26 to 30.

According to IMD’s latest information and data, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may experience light to moderate rainfall on Nov 28-29.

IMD Weather Update: Forecast & Warnings

IMD has predicted dense fog conditions in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh during the early morning of November 28, and 30. Dense fog conditions will likely persist in the early morning hours of Himachal Pradesh from November 26 to 30. Isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh may also experience the same from Nov 28 to Dec 1.

Weather Systems

According to the latest weather update, the Indian Ocean near latitude 5.0°N and longitude 85.3°E, about 600 km southeast of Trincomalee, 880 km southeast of Nagapattinam, 980 km southeast of Puducherry and 1050 km south-southeast of Chennai is likely to move northwestwards & intensify into a deep depression during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to continue moving northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coasts during the subsequent 2 days.

IMD said a cyclonic circulation lies over sub-Himalayan West Bengal in lower tropospheric levels. A fresh Western disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region from 29th November.

Temperature Conditions And Forecast

IMD observed that minimum temperatures will remain the same in most parts of the country over the next five days. Additionally, a gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C is very likely over northwest India during the next 5 days except over Rajasthan. Maharashtra to experience similar temperatures during the next 4 days.

Fisherman Warning

IMD predicted stormy weather likely to prevail over different parts of the country. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas return to coasts –

Southeast Bay of Bengal and east Equatorial Indian Ocean on Nov 25.
Southwest Bay of Bengal, along & off Sri Lanka coast till Nov 29.
Westcentral Bay of Bengal from Nov 26th-29 and along & off Tamil Nadu, Puducherry coasts till Nov 29. Along & off the south Andhra Pradesh coast from Nov 26th to 29.

IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi

Delhi experienced a rise up to 2°C in minimum temperature over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. Additionally, there will be a clear sky in the National Capital Region from Nov 26 to 28.

AQI: Delhi’s air quality, which improved slightly on Monday morning, deteriorated sharply by noon time, returning to the ‘very poor’ category. Delhi’s 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) was 285 ‘poor’ at 9 am yesterday, but by 4 pm, it had dropped to 349 ‘very poor’ and even further to 391 by 10 pm. The overall AQI in Delhi stood at 395 as of 7 am.

As of 6 AM today, Delhi’s R.K. Puram recorded an AQI of 232, while Punjabi Bagh reported a slightly lower AQI of 273.
